Biography
Sergey Gulyaev was born on October 23, 1921 in the village of Ridder (now a city in the East Kazakhstan region of Kazakhstan ) in the family of an employee. He graduated from the five classes of the school, after which he worked as a collector of the exploration party. In 1941, Gulyaev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since May 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, the senior sergeant Sergei Gulyaev commanded the armored personnel carrier of the 8th Guards independent reconnaissance battalion of the 7th Guards Tank Corps of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of the Voronezh Front by the Guards . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
On the night of September 21-22, 1943, Gulyaev, along with two machine gunners, crossed the Dnieper near the village of Trakhtemirov, Kanevsky district, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR . On the west bank, the group reconnoitred the enemy defenses, extracting valuable information. When the group was discovered and surrounded by the enemy during the reconnaissance of the second enemy position, Gulyaev entered the battle, destroying a large number of enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1943, sergeant Sergei Gulyaev was awarded the Order of Lenin and Medal " Gold Star " for number 2087 [1] .
After the end of the war, Gulyaev graduated from the military-political school. In 1946, in the rank of junior lieutenant, he was dismissed. He lived in the city of Leninogorsk (now - Ridder), worked at the mine. He died on July 29, 1986 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
