Interdepartmental Intelligence Center (Italy)

The Interdepartmental Intelligence Center ( Italian: Centro Intelligence Interforze , CII) is a military intelligence agency in Italy, a unit of the 2nd Division (information and security) of the General Staff of the Italian Armed Forces. Established in 1997, it has actually been operating since 2000.

Content

History

In 1997, it was decided to combine the intelligence activities of the three types of armed forces of Italy, and on May 15, 1997, the corresponding Directive of the Ministry of Defense No. 1/30863 / 14.1.8 / 97 was issued. After the creation of the 2nd Division (Information and Security) of the General Staff (RIS) on September 1, 2000, the Interdepartmental Intelligence Center, the Interdepartmental Training Center for Electronic Intelligence were created as divisions of the 2nd Division (from April 1, 2004 the training center was reorganized into the Center electronic warfare) and other units of military-technical intelligence.

Tasks

Unlike AISE , CII focuses exclusively on issues related to the military. His competence includes electronic warfare , and various types of technical intelligence, such as species reconnaissance , electronic reconnaissance , intelligence intelligence and others.

Foreign operations are carried out in coordination with AISE.

Organizational

Headquarters CII is located in Castel Malnova (15th municipality of Rome ), there are a number of other units located in Selva di Fasano [1] , Udine , Monte Conero , Surbo , Lecce , Borgio Piave , Monte Sant'Angelo , Tirrenia [2] , Monterotondo , Pula [3] , Otranto [4] , Messine [5] , Portopalo di Capo Passero [6] , Pantelleria [7] and Lampedusa [8] .
