Sardinops [1] ( lat. Sardinops ) is a genus of fish from the herring family (Clupeidae).

Content
DescriptionSea fish are body lengths, usually up to 30 cm. The mouth is terminal without an outstanding lower jaw. The belly is slightly rounded. Pelagic caviar has a large okolozheltkovoe space [2] .

- Far Eastern Sardine ( Sardinops melanostictus ) (Temminck and Schlegel, 1846)
- Australian Sardine ( Sardinops neopilchardus ) (Steindachner, 1879)
- South African Sardine ( Sardinops ocellatus ) (Pappe, 1853)
- Peruvian Sardine ( Sardinops sagax ) (Jenyns, 1842)
- California sardine ( Sardinops caeruleus ) (Girard, 1854)
Some authors consider this genus to be monotypic with a single representative of Sardinops sagax , which includes 4–5 subspecies [2] .
