Botanical DescriptionPerennial herb with a thick knotted rhizome . Height 10-50 cm. On it are pairs of serrated leaves and flower heads in their sinuses . The flowers are white, several mm long.
Distribution and habitatThe species is common in most parts of North America , where it grows mainly in moist places, such as swamps .
Economic Significance and ApplicationThe roots of the plant are eaten by some North American Indian tribes.
