History

Originally, the hill was called Tallimäki ( Finnish. Tallimäki ) according to the stables located on it, which belonged to the Abo Castle . Since the middle of the 16th century, drinking water came from the spring located on the hill through the first wooden water supply in Finland.

Until the XVIII century, the hill also housed a cemetery for residents of the castle.

In the XVII-XVIII centuries, a psychiatric hospital was located on a hill.

In the XIX century, the hill became known for the construction of a complex of buildings of the city prison on it, which in 2007 was taken outside the city of Turku. The prison buildings themselves are planned to be reconstructed as housing in the period 2018–2020 [1] .
