Initial Biography
Fedor Fedorovich Korotkov was born on May 15, 1902 in Pishpek.
Military Service
Civil War
Since October 1920, he served in the ranks of the Red Army as a Red Army member of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Siberian Division . He took part in the fight against rebels in the Saratov province .
Interwar
In October 1922 he was appointed to the post of commander of the cavalry division of the KUKS . Soon he was sent to study at the Joint Military School. The All-Russian Central Executive Committee in Moscow , after which from September 1928 he commanded a platoon in the 61st cavalry regiment of the cavalry division named after I.V. Stalin.
From February to May 1932 he studied at the armored KUKS of the Red Army in Leningrad , after which he served as a course commander in the Joint Military School named after All-Russian Central Executive Committee in Moscow. Since September of that year, he served as squadron commander and head of a regimental school in the 61st cavalry regiment.
In 1938 he joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .
In November 1938 he was sent to study at the M.V. Frunze Military Academy , after which Korotkov from December 1939 was at the disposal of the Military Council of the Murmansk Group of Forces of the Leningrad Military District , and then of the North-Western Front ). He took part in the Soviet-Finnish war .
In October 1940 he was appointed to the post of senior assistant to the chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the 14th Army of the LVO.
World War II
With the outbreak of World War II, Korotkov was in the same position on the Northern Front .
In September 1941 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 122nd Infantry Division , and in July 1942 - to the post of commander of the 14th Infantry Division (14th Army, Karelian Front), which was conducting defense in the Murmansk direction against the troops of General Dietl . In October 1944, during the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation , the division broke through the heavily fortified enemy defenses northwest of Murmansk and, with the assistance of ships and landing units of the Northern Fleet, captured the important naval base and village of Petsamo . In November, the division, along with other army units and ships of the Northern Fleet, completed the liberation of the Pechenga region . For the difference in the liberation of Petsamo, the division was given the honorary name "Pechenga", and Fedor Fedorovich Korotkov was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2nd class.
From October 24 to November 4, 1944, Major General Korotkov commanded the 131st , and from November 17, the 132nd rifle corps , which participated in the East Pomeranian operation , during which, along with the 1st Guards Tank Army, he liberated the cities of Kezlin , Gdynia , Swinemuende , and on March 4, 1945 came out on the coast of the Baltic Sea . For exemplary performance of the tasks of the command, the corps was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2nd degree.
Under his command, on May 9, the Danish island of Bornholm was liberated during an operation on the Bornholm landing .
Post-War Career
Since June 1945, Major General Korotkov was at the disposal of the Military Council of the Northern Group of Forces , then the GUK NPO .
From February 1946 he was a student of the main faculty of the Higher Military Academy named after K.E. Voroshilov , after graduating from June 1948 he was at the disposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces .
On November 6, 1948, Major General Fedor Fedorovich Korotkov was arrested and on September 24, 1951, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR was convicted under Art. 43, p. "A" to 10 years of ITL . On October 15, 1955, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR quashed the verdict against Korotkov and dismissed the case for lack of corpus delicti.
In January 1956, Major General Fedor Fedorovich Korotkov resigned. He died on September 19, 1973 in Moscow . He was buried at Vostryakovsky cemetery .
