Biography

Mustafin Alexander Ivanovich was born on December 5, 1850 [1] .

In 1873 he graduated from the shipbuilding department of the Technical School of the Maritime Department in Kronstadt and promoted to the conductors of the Marine Engineers Corps [1] .

In 1884 he graduated from the Naval Academy .

In 1886-1887, Lieutenant Mustafin was observing from the Marine Technical Committee the construction of the gunboat Koreets at the Bergzund Mekaniska shipyard in Stockholm . In 1886, recertified from lieutenants to junior shipbuilders .

He participated in the construction of the battleship " Sisoy the Great ", which was laid in the wooden boathouse of the New Admiralty on July 25, 1891. First, the builder was appointed senior shipbuilder V.V. Maksimov , and then he was replaced by the younger shipbuilder A.I. Mustafin. [2]

In 1895, Mustafin was appointed senior builder of the battleship Oslyabya , which was laid down on November 9, 1895 at the shipyard in the New Admiralty. Later Mustafin was replaced by A.E. Leontiev at the Oslyaby construction.

In 1897, A. I. Mustafin was appointed senior builder of the same type of armored cruiser " Diana " (laid down June 4, 1897) and " Pallas ", which were being built in the boathouse of Galerny Island in St. Petersburg .

On February 15, 1899, he was promoted to senior shipbuilder and appointed to the same post of the Kronstadt port [1] .

In 1900, A. I. Mustafin was appointed senior builder of the Vityaz cruiser, the first Bogatyr type cruiser to be built in Russia. On behalf of the MTK A.I. Mustafin calculated the basic parameters of the cruiser. On May 23, 1901, the official ceremony of laying the ship with the participation of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich took place . June 1, 1901 the ship burned out as a result of a fire that occurred on the boathouse. [3]

In June 1901, an order was issued by the manager of the Ministry of the Sea to begin building a new cruiser of the Bogatyr type to replace the deceased in the Vityaz fire. All equipment ordered and procured for the Vityaz was transferred to a new ship - the cruiser Oleg . A.I. Mustafin was appointed builder of a new cruiser. On August 14, 1903, the ship was launched. In 1907, Mustafin was renamed Colonel from senior shipbuilder.

In 1908 he was promoted to major general of the Marine Engineers Corps and transferred to the Naval Engineering Committee's Shipbuilding Department, was in charge of the construction of ships in Sevastopol .

From 1908 to 1909, he was Senior Assistant to the Chief Inspector of Shipbuilding , Admiralty General A. N. Krylov . [five]

He died in 1912, was buried at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery in St. Petersburg.

Posthumously awarded the rank of lieutenant general .
