Background
The first idea of creating a gaming system using a TV came to the mind of engineer Ralph Baer back in 1951 , when he worked on the development of the Loral TV. He could realize his idea only in 1966 , creating a simple game for two players. The game was called TV Game chassis and consisted of two points on the screen, each point was controlled by the player, the task of the game was to catch up with the opponent.
It is also worth noting that Baer managed to make the second modification of the TV Game chassis.
Brown Box
In 1966, Baer worked as chief engineer at Sanders Associates, and after creating and beta testing the first game console in the world, he brought it to court by Herbert Kampman, the head of his company. After the presentation, Kampman approved the financing and development of this area of the company. And already in 1967, the official draft of the game appeared, for which a light gun was developed and a little later the third ping-pong game. Based on these games, the first official prototype of the Brown Box game console was created. The prefix presented the opportunity to play two players, use a light gun and switches to select a game, there were 16 in all, mainly sports-related games - football, hockey, volleyball, etc.
