Jaban Sahabi ( Arabic: جابان صحابي ) or Jaban al-Kurdi is the first Kurd to convert to Islam , an associate of the Prophet Muhammad .
Biography
Probably Jaban Sahabi was a traveler or a merchant. In 18 hijri, he returned to Kurdistan to preach Islam there. The name Jaban Sahabi was mentioned in several Muslim sources. So Ibn Hajar al-Askalani , cites in his book “ Bulag al-Maram ” 10 hadiths transmitted by Jaban. The son of Jaban Abu Basir Maimun al-Kurdi was a Tabi .
