Content
Geography
Barunskoye SMO is located in the northern part of Yustinsky district and borders:
- in the south-east - with the Tatala SMO ;
- in the south - with Justin SMO ;
- in the west and north - from the Oktyabrsky district of Kalmykia | Oktyabrsky district of Kalmykia ( Khosheutovsky , Idzhilsky and Dzhangarsky SMO );
- in the northeast - with the Astrakhan region .
In the relief, the territory of the Barunsky SMO is expressed by a hollow-wavy plain on the Upper Khvalyn marine sediments with areas of ridge relief and arrays of recast sands . The relief is flat, represented by the Caspian lowland . Brown semi-desert soils predominate on the territory of the SMO [2] .
Hydrography
The hydrographic network of the Barunsky SMO is poorly developed. There is a waste channel on the territory [2] .
Climate
The climate of the territory is sharply continental, dry. The amount of precipitation on average is 200-300 mm per year, in the warm period 130-165 mm. In summer, average temperatures are + 23 + 25 degrees Celsius, sometimes reaching 39-40 and higher. The minimum temperature in January is 35 ... -37 C. In winter, the weather is characterized by extreme instability. Frequent winds cause a drop in temperature. A specific feature of the described area are droughts and dry winds. In the Barunsky SMO, the number of days with these adverse natural phenomena can reach 119 days [2] .

The population of the Barunsky SMO as of 01/01/2012 was 678 people. Most of the population (over 90%) lives in the village of Barun . Demographic trends are ambiguous [2] .
National composition
The national composition of the population is characterized by the predominance of Kalmyks in the Barunsky SMO (95%). Russians make up 3%, Kazakhs - 2% [2] .

Economy
Agriculture is the basic branch of specialization of the Berginsky SMO. In total, there are 35 KFH and 166 LPH on the territory of the settlement. The main type of their activity is the breeding and rearing of farm animals. Pasture area is 88.82 thousand hectares [2] .
Transportation Infrastructure
Transport infrastructure is undeveloped. The Barun-Chompot highway (54 km), which provides communication with the district center, does not have a hard surface [2]
