The Order of St. Anthony is a spiritual fraternity and dynastic (private) award of the Imperial House of Ethiopia .

History
According to legend, the Order of St. Anthony was established in 370 [1] by a certain Abyssinian Negus , known in Europe as Presbyter John , in honor of St. Reverend Anthony the Great . If we accept this legend as true, then the Order of St. Anthony is the oldest spiritual chivalric organization in the world.
The order is intended for the consecration of the clergy and religious in it. The city of Meroe in the territory of modern Sudan is considered the traditional medieval center of the order. The existence of the order was known in medieval Europe and the image of the signs of the order can be found in the heraldic reference books of that time.
In the Ethiopian Empire for a long time was not awarded, but was reanimated in exile by the Crown Council of Ethiopia. Today, in addition to clergymen, secular persons are also allowed in the Order of St. Anthony for church services.

Insignia
The badge of the order is a Greek cross, covered with blue enamel and crowned with the imperial crown. The star of the Order is eight-rayed with the order superimposed on it.
The ribbon of the order is black with wide dark blue stripes on the sides.
