Valdheim ( Yiddish װאלדהײם : Forest House ) is a village in the Birobidzhan district of the Jewish Autonomous Region , the administrative center of the Valdheim rural settlement .

Geography
Valdheim village stands near the left bank of the Bira River.
The road to the village of Valdheim goes from Birobidzhan through the village of Ptichnik , the distance to Birobidzhan is about 10 km.
Height above sea level - 72 m [2] .
To the south of Valdheim (downstream of the Bira ) there is a road to the village of Red East .
History
The collective farm was founded in 1928 by immigrants from Kazan , Mogilev and Dnepropetrovsk . In 1930 , a Jewish village council was opened in Waldheim. By 1930, the collective farm had 293 people, in 1931 - more than 900. The poet Emanuel Kazakevich became the chairman of the collective farm in 1932 .
In the 1930s, a school, nursery, laundry, bathhouse, as well as a makeshift brick factory and sawmill operated in Valdheim; a newspaper was published in Russian and Yiddish [3] .
