History
The city municipality ( indon. Kota ) Sungaipenuh was separated into a separate administrative unit from the Kerinchi district on November 8, 2008 .
Geographical position
The city is located in the western part of the province, in the west of the island of Sumatra , in the valley of the Siulak River, to the north-west of Lake Kerinchi . The absolute height is 986 meters above sea level [1] .
Sungaipenuh is located approximately 245 kilometers west-south-west (WSW) from Jambi , the provincial capital.
Administrative Division
The territory of the municipality of Sungaipenuh is divided into five districts ( kecamatan ). The total area of the municipality is 391.5 km².
Population
According to the 2010 official census , the population was 53,281 people [2] . The dynamics of the population of the city by years:
