2009 - Launch of the eDarling website in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain.
2010 - Launch of the eDarling website in Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Turkey.
2011 - Launch of the eDarling website in Russia. Awarding of the “Site of the Year” prize to the French [5] and Spanish versions [6] of the eDarling website.

Principle of Operation
As part of the registration on the site, users pass a test consisting of 283 questions. The test is based on a five-factor personality model ( Big Five ), which includes personality factors such as extraversion , goodwill, emotionality , integrity and openness. Based on the results of the test, a psychological portrait of the user is created, on the basis of which candidates are selected for dating, the most compatible with him by nature.
The selection of candidates also takes into account the individual preferences of users: education, desire to have children, religion, place of residence. Independent search on profiles of other users is not provided. Thus, unlike dating dating sites with an open user base (in Russia, for example, these include Mamba.ru , LovePlanet.ru and Damochka.ru ), eDarling positions itself as a match site, that is, a service that offers users the most compatible candidates according to the test results, significant for creating a serious relationship.
Terms of Use
Services such as registering on the site, taking a test with an individual psychological portrait, selecting candidates for dating and viewing their profiles are free for all users (Basic account). However, in order to view photos and communicate with candidates for acquaintance, as well as receive more candidates and see visitors, you must purchase a Premium subscription, which provides for automatic renewal, if you do not refuse it at least two weeks in advance. In 2011, eDarling's research department provided some of the anonymous psychological test results to scientists from Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), University of Southampton (UK), University of Groningen (Netherlands), and Duke University (USA) [20] . Data Security and Privacy
eDarling - uses “manual” profile verification, that is, all open texts and user photos are checked by moderators for compliance with the code of ethics [25] . According to the results of testing of eight leading German dating sites conducted by ComputerBild magazine in 2011, eDarling scored the most points in the categories of “security”, “customer support service” and “quality of selection of candidates” [26] .
In May 2012, eDarling took the initiative to introduce the “Serious Partner Search on the Internet” (SPIN-Kodex) code to regulate online dating services and protect users from online fraud . Other major European services - FriendScout24, Neu.de and Parship - also supported the initiative and participated in the development and signing of a set of rules governing online dating services. The SPIN Code provides penalties for offending sites.
