Maryland
The southern end of the I-83 is located in downtown Baltimore , at the intersection of Fayette Street and Presidents Street . From here the main line goes to the northern suburbs of Baltimore. Then I-83 connects with I-695 - the “McKeldin Ring” surrounding Baltimore. For 2.3 km, the highways are connected, then I-83 departs north of the state. 40 km after leaving Baltimore, I-83 crosses the border between Maryland and Pennsylvania .
Pennsylvania
The first major city through which I-83 passes in Pennsylvania is York . Here the highway crosses the US 30 . Then I-83 moves towards the state capital, Harrisburg . South of Harrisburg, Interstate 83 intersects Interstate 76 , the main highway crossing Pennsylvania from west to east. The northern end of I-83 is located at the intersection with I-81 .
