Concert for trumpet and orchestra ( Concert for trumpet in E Flat Major ) - a musical work by composer Joseph Haydn .
It was written in 1796 for Anton Weidinger , an Austrian trumpeter and inventor of a valve-driven pipe, which, unlike conventional pipes, allowed the use of chromatic scale.
Anton Weidinger's experiment did not take root - valve pipes were replaced by valve tools and, therefore, Haydn’s concert, along with Hummel’s concert, is a rare example of a number of works written specifically for this rare instrument.
The concert consists of three parts:
- . Allegro (sonata form)
- . Andante (three-part form)
- . Finale-Allegro (Rondo)
The composition of the orchestra includes 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, timpani and strings.
