Indirect parliamentary elections in Cuba for the 3rd National Assembly were held on November 27, 1986 . [1] The assembly was expanded to 510 members.
Results
The primary elections were held in two rounds: October 19 and 26, 1986. Voters elected members of 169 municipal assemblies. 6 704 479 voters participated in the first round (participation - 97.65%) and 12 623 local deputies were elected. In the second round, with the participation of 93.6%, the remaining 633 members of the municipal assemblies were elected. After that, on November 27, deputies of the municipal assemblies elected 510 members of the National Assembly . Candidates were supposed to be members of the Communist Party , Youth Communist League or mass organizations .
From November 30 to December 2, the 3rd Congress of the CPC was held at which a 5-year economic development plan was discussed. On December 29, 1986, the 3rd Assembly began its work. Flavio Bravo Pardo was re-elected President of the Assembly, and Fidel Castro - Chairman of the Council of State . [one]
