Biography

Vasily Bogovoi was born into a peasant family on February 28, 1893 (according to other sources - 1898) in the village of Chashchinskaya, Shenkur district, Arkhangelsk province (now - Shenkur district, Arkhangelsk region). He graduated from the Shenkur two-year school, after which he worked in Shenkursk and Arkhangelsk . He was a messenger, a scrap driver, a janitor. In 1914, Bogovoi was drafted into the tsarist army, served in the Kronstadt combat engineer brigade, and rose to the rank of non-commissioned officer . In 1917 he joined the party of Socialist Revolutionaries (Social Revolutionaries), later he joined the Party of Left Social Revolutionaries . Since 1918, Bogovoi was at Soviet work in Kronstadt , then in Shenkursk [1] .

In 1919, Bogovoi voluntarily went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He served in various command posts, commanded the 156th Infantry Regiment, the 160th Infantry Regiment, the 499th Infantry Regiment. Actively participated in battles on the fronts of the Civil War . For military merits, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR (Order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic No. 355 in 1919) [1] .

In 1921 he joined the Bolshevik party . In 1921-1922 he was the military commandant of Arkhangelsk , in 1922-1924 - the commander of the 52nd Infantry Brigade of the 58th Infantry Division. In 1926 he graduated from the Military Academy of the Red Army (now the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze ), after which for two years he was an assistant for the training and combat unit of the head of the Ashenbrenner Moscow Infantry School. In 1928 - 1931, Bogovoi was an assistant military attache and military attache in Poland , engaged in intelligence activities. When the major of the Polish General Staff Pyotr Demkovsky, recruited by God, was arrested in 1931, he was forced to leave for the Soviet Union. Demkovsky was executed several days later. He served in the Intelligence Directorate of the Red Army . In 1934 he graduated from the operational department of the Red Army Military Academy. He lived in Moscow [1] .

May 29, 1937 Bogovoi was arrested by the NKVD of the USSR on charges of espionage and counter-revolutionary activities. On October 26, 1937, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR found him guilty of alleged crimes and sentenced him to capital punishment - the death penalty . The sentence was carried out on the same day. The ashes of the God were buried at the Don cemetery [2] .

By a decision of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR of June 16, 1956, Vasily Bogovoi was posthumously rehabilitated [2] .
