Indirect parliamentary elections in Cuba were held on November 2, 1976 . [1] They were the first elections since the 1959 Cuban Revolution .
Results
From December 1975 to November 1976, voters elected members of the 169 municipal assemblies, who, in turn, elected 489 members of the National Assembly who were nominated by the Communist Party or mass organizations [1] . Among the deputies of the Assembly, 30% were industrial and service workers, 29% were government employees and 12% were civil servants . Members of the 14 Provincial assemblies were also elected deputies of the National Assembly.
About 5 million voters and about 30 thousand candidates of municipal assemblies participated in the elections. [one]
