Geography
Located in Benton County . Along with the neighboring cities of Kennevik and Pasco , it is part of the Tri-Cityis metropolitan area. Located at the confluence of the Yakima River and the Columbia River . The area of the city is 101.29 km², of which 92.51 km² is land, and 8.78 km² is open water.
Population
According to the 2010 census, the population of Richland is 48,058 people [1] ; according to estimates as of April 1, 2012, it numbers 49,890 people [2] .
According to 2010 data, the racial makeup is represented by white Americans (87.0%); Asians (4.7%); African American (1.4%); Native Americans (0.8%); the population of the Pacific Islands (0.1%); representatives of other races - 2.7% and representatives of two or more races - 3.2%. The proportion of Hispanics of any race is 7.8%.
The average age of the population is 39.4 years. The proportion of people under the age of 18 is 24.2%; persons from 18 to 24 years old - 8.1%; from 25 to 44 years old - 24.7%; from 45 to 64 years old - 28.4%; persons over the age of 65 years - 14.6%. Men make up 49% of the city’s population; women - 51%.
