In its present form, the lighthouse was built after the collapse of the ship Clarendon in 1837 west of the village of Niton (Niton). It is a white tower with a height of 27 meters, opposite which there is another tower with a siren, which is included during the fog. Trinity House tours the lighthouse all year round.
The artistic description of the lighthouse is contained in the classic story of R. Kipling “Pirate from the lighthouse” (1891).
