Fontanesia ( lat. Fontanesia ) - a genus of woody plants of the family Olive ( Oleaceae ), which forms the monotypic tribe Fontanesieae .

The genus is named after the French botanist Rene Defontaine .

Botanical Description

Tall shrubs . Shoots tetrahedral. The leaves are opposite, simple, whole, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, whole-marginal ( Fontanesia fortunei ) or finely serrate ( Fontanesia phillyreoides ).

Distribution

Fillane-shaped fontanesia ( Fontanesia phillyreoides ) lives in the Mediterranean , and Fortune fontanesia ( Fontanesia fortunei ) comes from China .
