Title
The village got its name from nelma fish, which walked along the river to spawn.
History
Until the 1950s, the Nelemnoe belonged to the Srednekansky district of the Magadan region . In the early 1970s. the district leadership raised the issue of closing the village of Nelemnoe and transferring half of the residents to the village. Verkhnekolymsk , and the other half - in the village. Usun-Kyuyol . At a general meeting of villagers, this proposal provoked indignation and appeal to higher party bodies (regional party committee). The then party leadership, against the backdrop of the all-Union success of S. Kurilov ’s novel “Hanido and Halerha,” sharply drew local leaders of the policy of closing unpromising villages. Moreover, the accelerated development of the village began in the late 70s: the construction of 2-storey houses, a boiler room, a DES, new buildings, a bathhouse, a shop, and a gym began.
