History

In the 14th century, a Tatar settlement was located on the site of the village of Mechetka. After the defeat of the Golden Horde settlement desolate. Many people confused the mausoleum left after the Tatars with the mosque [2] . Probably, the river, on one of the banks of which the mausoleum was located, because of this, got its name - the Mosque . Today, most of the river is either dry or swampy.

In 1685, an expedition led by a nobleman, Ivan Zholobov, surveyed the land near Bityug. He described the Tatar mausoleum he had seen, which was located on the site of the modern village of Mechetka: And at the top of that river on the left side stands the Tatar mosque of stone ” [3] .

In 1686, the first inhabitants of the future settlement began to settle on the Bityug river, which were later called single-palaces [3] . In 1746 there were 130 families.

In 1701, by decree of Peter the Great from 1699, palace peasants from the northern districts of Russia moved to Mechetka [3] .

In 1788, through the efforts of the parishioners, the stone Church of the Ascension of the Lord was erected. To this day has not survived.

In 1908, the erection of a new church began, which in 1912 was consecrated in the name of Mitrofan of Voronezh [2] . In 1930 the church was closed. The temple was first used as a collective farm club, and then it was taken over by a nearby school and used as a warehouse. In 1990, the temple was transferred to the Voronezh diocese [4] , and in 1994 the temple was recognized as an architectural monument. Today it is known as the Sretensky Church ( Church of the Presentation of the Lord ).

There was a seven-year school in the village.
