The coat of arms of Kurgan was approved on March 17 (28), 1785 along with other emblems of the cities of the Tobolsk governorate .
Description
In the upper part of the shield is the coat of arms of Tobolsk . In the lower - in a green field there are two silver barrows: by the name of this city and as a sign that they are located near the city itself [1] .
Description of the coat of arms of the city of Tobolsk: “In a blue field, a golden pyramid with military reinforcement, with banners, drums and halberds”
Coat of Arms of 1865
In 1865, Baron Bernhard (Boris) Vasilyevich Köhne developed the project of the coat of arms of Kurgan, made according to the rules of 1857. The coat of arms project has not been approved.
Description
In a green shield there are 2 silver hills (barrows), in the free part the coat of arms of the Tobolsk province. The shield is crowned with a silver tower crown, behind the shield two gold mallets connected by the Alexander ribbon are laid crosswise [2] .
Coat of arms of 1970
The Soviet coat of arms of Kurgan was developed by the artist Gennady Ivanovich Ivanchin . This emblem was approved on October 1, 1970 by the executive committee of the Kurgan City Council of Workers' Deputies.
According to D. Ivanov, the author of the current edition of the coat of arms of Kurgan, this coat of arms was not officially approved.
Description
The shield is crossed, the lower part is cut. In the upper red field there is a golden gear wheel (golden gear), into which three golden ears are threaded; in the second green field there are two two stylized silver barrows one after another, in the third blue field there is a golden military armature.
Two mounds illustrate the name of the city, military reinforcement was taken from the coat of arms of Tobolsk, since the mound in the past was part of the Tobolsk province [3] [4] .
2001 Small Coat of Arms
The historical coat of arms of Kurgan was restored by Decision of July 4, 2001 No. 80 “On the coat of arms of the municipality of the city of Kurgan”.
The modern version of the coat of arms keeps it unchanged from the time of its Supreme approval by Empress Catherine II the Great on March 17 (28), 1785. The heraldic description of the coat of arms is supplemented by an indication of the silver color of the earth above which mounds rise (in the blazon of the historical version of the coat of arms, this color was not defined, although the arms mounds were never depicted as abstract).
The emblem of the city was brought into line with the requirements of the Highest Decree of 1857 on the regulation of land and city emblems, according to which the intersection of the coat of arms that combined the regional emblem with the local one was canceled. Due to the change in the administrative-territorial status of the city, the emblems of the Tobolsk governorate are completely removed from the coat of arms of the city of Kurgan. In the updated image of the coat of arms, the rendering of the mounds has been changed to give them a greater resemblance to real hills.
The author is Alexander Rybin, revised by Dmitry Ivanov [5] .
Description
In the green shield are two silver barrows on the silver earth.
2002 Great Coat of Arms
Dmitry Valerievich Ivanov (Ekaterinburg) developed the Great Coat of Arms of Kurgan. The author added shield holders that stand at the foot of two green mounds. The marten symbolizes the belonging of the city of Kurgan to the Kurgan region. Sable is the territorial emblem of Siberia. The neck crown on the sable recalls the original (1682) name of the Kurgan - Tsarevo Gorodische (Tsarev Kurgan), and also echoes the crown on the coat of arms of the Siberian Kingdom. The shield is bordered with a ribbon of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, which Kurgan was awarded on June 14, 1982 in connection with the 200th anniversary of obtaining the status of a city and for successes in the national economy. Motto: “FOR LIFE” was taken by the author from the text of the New Testament (“... We have passed from death to life ...”; First Epistle of John , chap. 3, verse 14).
The large coat of arms of the city was approved by the decision of the Kurgan City Council on March 20, 2002 No. 35 “On the large coat of arms of the city of Kurgan”.
On December 30, 2002, the Kurgan City Duma adopted Decision No. 173 “On Supplementing the Coat of Arms of the City of Kurgan with a Municipal Crown”. The coat of arms was redrawn by D. Ivanov.
