The administrative center is the village of Yalchiki .
Geography
Located in the southeast of the Chuvash Republic . It borders with the Republic of Tatarstan ( Buinsky , Apastovsky , Kaybitsky districts) in the north, east and south, with the Komsomolsky district in the west, with Batyrevsky in the southwest. The territory of the district is 567.2 km².

According to the 2010 census, the Yalchik district is mono-ethnic, the vast majority of the population are Chuvashs (97%), the villages of Ishmurzino-Surinsk and Novye Bikshiki are Tatar .

Nature
Yalchik district is located within the Chuvash plateau , divided by ravines , the density of the ravine network is 0.92 km per km².
Limestone is mined from mineral resources in the Lysogorskoye field (1.5 km southwest of the village of Yamanchurino) and the Karlinskoye field (on the left bank of the Karla River ); clay for the Yalchik brick factory; building sands. There are sources of mineral water .
The climate of the region is temperate continental with persistently frosty winters (5 months) and warm summers. The average January temperature is −13.6 ° C, the absolute minimum is −48 ° C, the average July temperature is 19.6 ° C, the absolute maximum is 39 ° C. An average of 471 mm of precipitation falls annually, mainly in the summer.
The main river of the region is the Bula (left tributary of the Sviyaga ), which flows for 20 km along the border with Tatarstan , with the Malaya Bula river and other small tributaries. There are dams on the rivers. One of the largest lakes is White Lake .
The predominant type of soil is leached chernozem, occupying 70% of the farmland. There are gray forest in the north of the region and sod-podzolic in the east. Forests occupy 4.5% of the territory, farmland - 88% of the total area. In the interfluve of Bula and Malaya Bula, sections of steppe vegetation have been preserved. Of wild animals, jerboas , groundhogs , ground squirrels , brown hare , and weasel live here. There is a section of the Prisursky reserve , representing the steppe landscape.
Economics
Yalchik district is mainly agricultural: 67% of gross output falls on agricultural production. The region specializes in grain and vegetable production (58% of agricultural products account for crop production and 42% for livestock). Cereals are grown, potatoes , open-field vegetables, hops , meat and dairy cattle breeding, sheep breeding , beekeeping are being cultivated. In general, the Yalchik region accounts for more than 5% of the agricultural production of the republic.
The industry is represented mainly by the processing of agricultural products. The region produces bakery products, starch , butter , cheese , sausages, etc. Large enterprises are concentrated in the district center. There is an art weaving workshop for the manufacture of knitwear. A branch of the Cheboksary Engineering Plant in New Shymkus operates in the district.
Transport
The entire volume of freight and passenger traffic is carried out by road. The main roads are the highway " Cheboksary - Ibresi - Yalchiki "; " Komsomolskoye - Yalchiki - Buinsk ."
