Content
Geography
Located in the southwestern part of the Left Bank on the banks of the Volga River in the dry steppe zone on the northern edge of the Caspian lowland, on the border with the Volgograd region . The climate is extremely continental, arid. The name of the district reflected the character of the steppe's even surrounding area.
The region is bordered by the Volgograd region in the south, the Krasnokutsk municipal district in the east, and Engels municipal district in the north. From the west it is bounded by the Volga [3] .
The length of paved public roads is 153.2 km.
History
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 28, 1941, the German population of the Zelman canton of the Volga German Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was evicted and it was incorporated into the Saratov region as the Zelman district .
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of May 19, 1942, Zelmansky district was renamed to Rivne district , and the village of Zelman to Rovnoe village. At the same time, the village councils were renamed, Brunental - to Krivoyarsky, Wiesenmiller - in Lugovsky, Geltzelsky - to Kochetnovsky, Zelmansky - to Rivne, Marienberg - to Peschansky, Neu-Warenburgsky - to Novo-Privolensky, Neu-Kolonsky - to Preis , Friedenersky - in Mirnovsky, Shtrekkerausky - in Novo-Kamensky, Khomutinsky and Tsikovsky village councils were not renamed.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of May 7, 1956, the Volga region was annexed to the Rivne region with 5 village councils.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of December 9, 1962, the Rivne region was included in the Engels region .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of December 9, 1970, the Rivne region with its center in the village of Rovnoe was separated from Engels district.
In 1997, the Rivne district was renamed the united municipality of the Rivne district.
On January 1, 2005, the Rivne Municipal District was formed as a municipality [4] .

- Urbanization
In urban conditions (the working village of Rivne ) live 25.6% of the population of the district.
- National composition
The region is multiethnic, living here: Russians (59.5%), Kazakhs (16.2%), Germans (7.1%), Ukrainians (5.8%), Tatars (3.8%) [15] . In the southern part of the district there are places of compact residence of the Kazakh population: the villages of Aleksandrovka, Limanny, Mirnoe.
In the 2000s, over 2 thousand Dungans moved from Kyrgyzstan to the Rivne region, where the Dungans settled compactly, primarily in the villages of Privol'noe , Skatovka , Kochetnoe . Of the 1375 inhabitants in the Privolnensky Municipality, 533 Dunganins were registered at the place of residence [16] , in the local school there were only 130 pupils, of which 67 Dungan (excluding the first and second grades, which include 15 Dungans and three Russian students) [17] . According to other sources, up to 70% of the population of the village are Dungans [18] . Muslim sources say the figure is more than 5 thousand Dungans in the Rivne region [19] .
The district has the Kazakh National Cultural Autonomy (in the village of Tarlykovka ) and the public organization “Voyny” in the Rivne region (the village of Skatovka ) [20] .

Economy
The area is agricultural . The largest producer of melons (mainly watermelons ) in the region. They grow grain, cattle, sheep. Small industrial enterprises process agricultural raw materials. Large irrigation systems are available. Oil and gas production is underway.
