Fajr ( Arabic: فجر Dawn ) is the predawn prayer in Islam . It is the first of five obligatory daily prayers, which together form the second of the Five Pillars of Islam .
According to some [ what? ] opinions, morning prayer is more valuable than life. Two Hadiths mention the value of Fajr as the most blessed prayer, since people are still sleeping at this time. Therefore, morning prayer is the most significant and it is recommended to perform it in a mosque.
Fajr consists of 2 sunna and 2 fard racata . When performing this prayer in a group, the imam recites the Qur'anic surah aloud.
The time lapse for performing Fajra lasts from dawn to sunrise.
During the holy month of Ramadan, a call to Fajr means the beginning of fasting before a call to Maghrib .
