At the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was the standard bearer of the Kenyan team.
Career
At the Beijing Olympics, he took part in the men's freestyle 100 meter competitions . He lost at the preliminary stage, taking 24th place.
He also took part in 100m butterfly competitions among men. Having reached the final, he took 5th place there. In the course of the competition, he renewed the Olympic record, which was later broken.
At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, he renewed Africa’s record for men's men's butterfly competitions.
At the Olympics in 2012, he took part in 100m butterfly competitions among men. Reaching the semifinals, he lost at this stage, taking the last place.
