Tournament Scheme

Each of the two tournaments consists of two parts:

  • Regular season: consists of 17 rounds.
  • Ligiglia (playoffs): consists of quarter-finals, semi-finals and final matches.

Qualifying stage

The qualifying stage is played by a three-point system. The position in the general table is determined by the sum of points scored according to the following rules:

  • Three points are awarded for the victory.
  • For a tie, one point is awarded.
  • For defeat, zero points are awarded.

This stage involves 18 clubs of the League MX 2012/2013, playing with each other for 17 rounds.

The position of the clubs in the table at the end of the qualifying stage is the sum of the points scored by each of them, and is presented in descending order. If at the end of 17 rounds two or more clubs scored the same number of points, their position is determined by the following criteria:

  1. The best difference between goals scored and goals conceded.
  2. More goals scored.
  3. The results of personal meetings.
  4. More goals scored on the road.
  5. The best position in the odds table.
  6. Position in the table of fair play.
  7. Lot.

The places occupied by the clubs participating in the final stage are determined by the position in the general table.

The 8 best teams in the overall table will automatically enter the final stage to compete for the Mexican champion title.

Final Stage

8 clubs that reached the final stage receive a number corresponding to the place they took in the general classification table at the end of 17 rounds. Matches of the final stage consist of the following stages:

  • Quarter finals
  • Semifinal matches
  • Final matches

Clubs that score the most goals in the sum of two matches go to the next stage. In case of equal goals, the winner is the team that scored the most goals on the road. If by this criterion it was not possible to identify the winner, then the team’s position in the general classification table is taken into account [1] .

Commands

Below is a list of 18 teams participating in the season. Estudiantes Tecos flew out to the Assenso League after accumulating the lowest odds over the past three seasons, ending their 36-year stint in the league. He was replaced by Leon , the winner of the Assenso League 2011/2012 . This is the first season of β€œLeon” in the first division after 10 years from the date of departure.
