Biography
Benedykt Kolyshko was born in 1750 in the town of Servuki.
He entered the service in the cavalry in 1778 . He fought in the war with Russia in 1792, including under Zelenets , where he distinguished himself, was awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari and promoted to major. He participated in the Kosciuszko Uprising - with the rank of brigadier he headed the II Ukrainian cavalry brigade, in 1794 he was promoted to major general. During the uprising, he was wounded in the arm, but doctors were able to return him to his previous state.
After the suppression of the uprising, he fled to Venice, then returned to his homeland, was not involved in politics, and lived on his estate. When the November uprising of 1830 broke out, he took part in it. He was the leader of the uprising in Podillia . He did not have much success, he was defeated in the battle of Dashev from the Russian troops under the command of General L.O. Roth , crossed the border and was interned in Austria .
Soon after his release, he died in Lviv; his grave is in the Lychakiv cemetery .
