Biography
Born on January 17, 1924 in the village of Alshansky, now in the Oryol region of the Oryol region, in a peasant family. Russian
He graduated from the seven-year school. In 1939 he arrived in the city of Kirov, Kaluga Region, where he graduated from a vocational school and worked as a turner at an iron foundry.
In the early days of World War II, he volunteered for the Kirov city fighter squad. In August 1941, he was enrolled in the reconnaissance department of the headquarters of the 43rd Army and sent to the rear of the enemy for communication with the partisan detachment of Baranovsky, operating on the right bank of the Desna. He participated in military operations, captures of prisoners, the defeats of enemy garrisons. He crossed the front line several times, delivering important reports to the army headquarters and conducting groups of miners and scouts to the partisans.
In January 1942 he was appointed commander of the intelligence department at the headquarters of the 10th Army of the Western Front. In January-February 1942, he was illegally in the occupied Spas-Demensk of the Kaluga Region for almost two months, conducting reconnaissance of military facilities and aiming at the targets of Soviet air strikes. Since the summer of 1942, he was in the Rognedin partisan brigade of the Bryansk region, the commander of the reconnaissance group at the headquarters of the brigade.
In August 1943, the brigade united with the advancing units of the Red Army. Shelaev was enrolled in the 42nd Infantry Division, where a skilled intelligence officer and partisan was immediately appointed commander of the intelligence department. Heroically fought in the Smolensk and Belarusian offensive operations of the Soviet troops. He made 32 raids into the enemy rear to capture prisoners and identify enemy positions and objects. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1945 .
In 1945 he was demobilized. He returned to the city of Kirov, Kaluga region. He worked as chairman of the district council of Osoaviahim , since 1946 - in the district department of the Ministry of State Security.
In 1947 he moved to the Tula region, where he began to work in the mining industry. He graduated in 1951 from the Tula Mining College, in 1957 - Novocherkassk Polytechnic Institute .
From July 1947 to the fall of 1974 he worked at the Zapadnaya mine of the Shchekinugol trust: the head of the site, a mining foreman, and the chief engineer of the mine. He participated in public activities: he was elected a candidate member of the Central Committee of the coal industry of the RSFSR, a deputy of the Tula regional and Shchekinsky village councils of people's deputies.
After retiring in April 1975, he arrived in Kirov, Kaluga Region. He died on July 16, 1976 . He was buried in Kirov at the old Kirov cemetery.
Rewards
- For courage and heroism shown in the struggle against the Nazi invaders, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Sergeant Shelaev Anton Stefanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 8753).
