Biography
Yuri Novikov was born on February 6, 1931 in the village of Nizhnedevitsk (now - the Voronezh region ). In 1954 he graduated with honors from the Voronezh Medical Institute , later - clinical residency in surgery. He worked as a senior researcher at the Central Research Laboratory of Military Engineering. In 1967, he became a doctor of medical sciences and the head of the department of operative surgery and topographic anatomy of the Ternopol Medical Institute . Since 1970, he lived in Smolensk , headed the department of operative surgery and topographic anatomy at Smolensk State Medical Institute . Actively engaged in scientific work, one of the first in the USSR began to explore the possibilities of surgical treatment of coronary heart disease . He was chairman of the Smolensk branch of the All-Russian Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists, a member of the problem-methodical commission at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation [1] .
He died on March 30, 2001 [1] , was buried in the Odintsovo cemetery .
