Biography
Alexander Kuznetsov was born on November 20, 1895 in St. Petersburg . He graduated from a four-year elementary school. In 1916, Kuznetsov was called up for service in the tsarist army. He took part in the First World War. In 1918, he voluntarily went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He participated in the battles during the Civil War. After graduation, he continued to serve in the army. In 1924 he graduated from the courses of middle command staff, in 1927 - technical courses at the N.E. Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy [1] .
Before the start of World War II, he was in various command posts [1] . He met the beginning of the war as the chief of the 15th aviation-based district. He ensured the combat work of aviation, supervised the work on removing parts of the region from under the blow of German troops during the 1941 campaign. In a short time, the retreating parts of the Western Front occupied new airfields and prepared aviation for new sorties [2] . He participated in the battle of Smolensk and the battle for Moscow . In 1942, he was engaged in the construction of airfields, under his direct supervision only for that year 11 operational airfields were built, 2 of which with soil and gravel landing strips [2] . In 1943 - 1944, Kuznetsov was an assistant to the head of the Zhukovsky Academy for material and technical support, then he was sent to the Baltic States as the head of the rear of the air army [1] .
After the war, Kuznetsov served in Smolensk , was the deputy rear commander of the 50th Air Army . Since 1953, in the rank of major general - in stock. He died on February 22, 1966 [1] , was buried at the Blade cemetery in Smolensk.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin , three Orders of the Red Banner , the Order of the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
