History
The lane arose in the 1st half of the 20th century as part of G. Mikhaylichenko Street (which was called Chekistov Street since 1944, and Philipp Orlik Street since 1993). In the 1940s, it was called Chekist Lane . In 1963, Ivan Maryanenko Street was allocated from it, after which it acquired its current borders.
In 1981, it was officially liquidated, but continued to exist as an independent street. In 1997, the City Council decided to rename a number of streets, including Chekistov Lane, which was to be called Kostya Gordienko Lane , in honor of the ataman Kostya Gordienko [1] . Until 2014, this decision was not properly officially published and did not enter into force. However, in some media publications and on individual city maps, a new name began to be used. On November 13, 2014, the City Council again supported the decision to rename the lane; on December 2, 2014, the decision was officially published and entered into force [2] .
