Geography
The city is located in the north-eastern part of Rajasthan, at an altitude of 426 meters above sea level [2] . Sikar is located approximately 90 kilometers northwest of Jaipur , the state’s administrative center, and 220 kilometers southwest of New Delhi , the country's capital.
History
From the end of the 17th century until the moment it became part of the state of Rajasthan, the city was governed by representatives of one of the lateral branches of the Rajput clan Shekhavat .
Demographics
According to the 2011 official census , the population was 244,563 people, of which 51.9% were men, 48.1% were women. The literacy rate of the population was 66.8% [3] .

Transport
Nearest major civilian airport located in the city of Jaipur [2] . The NH-11 National Highway also runs through the city.
