Young years

Born in the city of Port-au-Prince on August 14, 1972 . It was with her help that Lamot brought modern telecommunication technologies to Africa - which, in turn, brought him the title of “Entrepreneur of the Year” in May 2008 . ^[1] Laurent Lamot did not stay away from the socio-political life of his homeland, which ultimately led him to the post of special consultant to President Michel Martei . In order to achieve more and avoid a possible conflict of interest, Lamot left entrepreneurial activity and did not return to it.

Initial Stage

In September 2011, Lamot and former US President Bill Clinton led the Presidential Council for Economic Development and Investment in Haiti, created by President Martei. It was anticipated that the activities of this council could help develop Haiti by attracting foreign investors. On October 24, 2011, Lamot received an even higher position, he became the Minister of Foreign Affairs . A he held this post on August 6, 2012 . In the fall of 2012, Haiti was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and the prime minister asked the world community to “support Haiti’s efforts to save lives and property.” More than 140 people became victims of the hurricane. Among the countries of the Caribbean, Cuba and Haiti have been hit hardest by the hurricane. ^[4] The island has not yet fully recovered from the devastating earthquake of 2010 .

In 2014, the situation in the country worsened in the country. The presidential election was planned for Haiti next year, but the government decided to postpone it due to electoral disagreements between the government and a group of opposition senators. This caused demonstrations and protests in the country demanding the resignation of the president and the government ^[5] . As a result of these events, Laurent Lamot announced his resignation on December 14. Until December 21, he served as head of government, then he was replaced by Minister of Health ^[6] .
