Biography

Daniil Vasilyevich Kazakevich was born on December 16, 1902 in the village of Radzevts now in the Molodechno district of the Minsk region in a peasant family.

In childhood and youth he lived in Omsk .

In 1920 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army .

He took part in battles on the fronts of the Civil War .

In 1923, Kazakevich completed the 6th Minsk Infantry Course, after which he served in the border troops as assistant chief of the frontier post in Belarus , head of the frontier post in the Caucasus .

After graduating from the Higher Border School in 1929, he served as head of the frontier post on the western border and as head of the course at the 2nd Kharkov Border School.

In 1937, Daniil Vasilievich Kazakevich graduated from the MV Frunze Military Academy .

From 1939 to 1942 he served as chief of staff of the troops of the Khabarovsk border district .

In December 1942 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 102nd Far Eastern Rifle Division , from which he was sent to the front.

Since February 1943, Colonel Kazakevich took part in battles on the fronts of World War II .

He was appointed commander of the 399th Infantry Division , which took part in the liberation of Novozybkov in September 1943 and Bobruisk in June 1944 . During the liberation of Poland , from September 3 to September 8, 1944, the enemy broke through the enemy’s defenses near the Narew River and immediately crossed it in the Ruzhan region, on the banks of which it seized a bridgehead, repelling the enemy’s counterattack.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 6, 1945, for the successful leadership of military formations and the personal courage and heroism shown to this, Major General Daniil Vasilyevich Kazakevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 6105).

With the end of the war, Daniil Vasilyevich Kazakevich continued to serve in the border troops, was the commander of the Moldavian border district .

In 1952 he graduated from the All-Union Correspondence Law Institute , after which he was appointed to the post of head of the department of military schools of the Main Directorate of Border Troops.

Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR 4th convocation ( 1954 - 1958 ).

In 1959, Lieutenant General Daniil Vasilyevich Kazakevich went into reserve. He lived in Moscow . He worked in the General Directorate for Foreign Tourism under the Council of Ministers of the USSR . He died on November 28, 1988 . He was buried at Mitinsky cemetery (plot 67).
