Johan Gröttumsbroten ( Norwegian Johan Grøttumsbråten ; February 12, 1899 , Oslo - January 24, 1983 , Oslo ) is a Norwegian double-athlete and skier , two-time Olympic champion and two-time world champion in biathlon, Olympic champion and world champion in cross-country skiing.

Career

At the 1924 Olympics in Chamonix, he competed in cross-country skiing and biathlon . In biathlon he won a bronze medal, 0.365 points losing to the silver medalist to his teammate Toralph Strömstad and 0.194 points behind other compatriot Harald Jökern . In ski racing he performed in both disciplines of the program, racing 18 km and 50 km. In the 18 km race, he won a silver medal, losing 1 minute and 20 seconds to the winner, also to the Norwegian Torleif Haug and 35 seconds ahead of Finney Tapani Niku , who became third. He won a bronze medal in the 50 km race, losing 37 seconds to silver medalist his compatriot Toralf Strömstad and for more than 2 minutes defeated another fourth Norwegian Jon Mordalen .

At the 1928 Olympics in St. Moritz, Grettumsbroten again performed in cross-country skiing and biathlon . In biathlon he won a gold medal, by more than 2.5 points, beating his second compatriot, Hans Vinyarengen, who became the second. He took part in cross-country skiing only in the 18 km race in which he also won gold, winning exactly 2 minutes against Ole Hägg , who became the second other Norwegian.

At the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid , as at previous Olympics, Grettumsbroten performed both in cross-country skiing and biathlon . In biathlon, like four years ago, he became the Olympic champion, more than 10 points ahead of Ole Stenen, who became his second compatriot. In skiing, he again participated only in the 18 km race, but this time he became only 6th.

At the world championships he won two gold medals in biathlon, at the championships of 1926 and 1931 . Also at the 1931 World Cup, he won gold in the 18 km ski race.
