New boring

The term “new boring” first appeared in 2010 in the eponymous article by art critic Valentin Dyakonov, dedicated to the participants of the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Young Art “Stop! Who is coming? ” ^[1] .

Most of the "boring" artists withdrew from the Institute of Contemporary Art ^[1] . Dyakonov refers to them such artists as Arseny Zhilyaev , Alexander Sukharev , Anna Titova and others.

• “One of the most powerful and unusual trends in new art is represented by artists who can be called boring new ones. These are boys and girls who have chosen the path of maximum adaptation to world moods. Their works resemble the products of the most highbrow art schools in Europe and the USA, and for good reason: many of them managed to study abroad. In principle, Russian art of recent years does not differ in any special national originality, but among the "new boring" similarities to Western models elevated to principle. Ideologically, they are against glamor and art as a commodity, stylistically close to the transatlantic conceptualism of the 1970s.
