Biography

In 1952 he graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry, Moscow State University , in 1955 - graduate school of the Faculty of Chemistry, Moscow State University.

In 1964, Georgy Borisovich organized the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry (TIBOC) in Vladivostok [2] and until 2001 was its permanent director.

G. B. Elyakov created a scientific school on the study of natural compounds secreted from marine organisms and plants of the Ussuri taiga . Under his leadership, established the structure of several hundred previously unknown substances belonging to different classes of chemical compounds.

These studies served as the basis for the development of a number of biological products for medicine, food industry, agriculture and the development of a new industry in the Far East - the production of biochemical reagents and preparations based on the integrated processing of marine biological raw materials.

Since 1975, G. B. Elyakov headed the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry and Biotechnology created by him at the Far Eastern State University .

Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1967). From November 24, 1970, Corresponding Member , from December 23, 1987 Academician , from March 13, 1991 to November 14, 2001 Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences . From 1991 to 2001, Chairman of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences . Advisor RAS.

He died on May 2, 2005 in Moscow. He was buried at the Troyekurovsky cemetery of Moscow [3] .
