Biography

Born on January 10, 1937 in the village of Utaganovo, Karmaskalinsky District, Bashkir ASSR.

He studied at the Bish-Ungarsk secondary school, after which he worked as a teacher of physics and mathematics at the Staro-Kieshkin and Bishtyakin seven-year schools, from where he was called up for military service.

After demobilization, I entered the Faculty of Philology of the Bashkir State University . Here he participated in the public life of the university, was the secretary of the Komsomol committee. After graduating with honors from BSU, he worked here as an assistant at the department of Bashkir literature and folklore.

In 1965–1968, he studied at the graduate school of Moscow State University at the Department of History of Soviet Literature, defended his thesis. From 1968 he worked as a teacher, since 1981, Robert Baimov headed the department of Bashkir literature and folklore of BSU. In 1982, he defended his doctoral dissertation at MSU. In 1984 he was awarded the title of professor, in 1991 - a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan [1] .

He died on April 30, 2010 in Ufa. He was buried at the Southern Cemetery [2] .

Scientific and creative activities

He began his literary activity as a critic (1963), author of monographs: “Step into maturity” (1975), “Bashkir historical-revolutionary novel” (1980), “Genre of the novel in the system of epic forms of Bashkir prose” (1982), prose works: “Thirst” (“Sarsau”, 1980), “The Closed Treasure” (“Bikle Khazina”, 1982), “Let’s Come Back as Soldiers” (“Kaytyrbyz Haldat Bulyp”, 1986).

R. Baimov published over 500 scientific works, including about 40 books and monographs. More than thirty doctors and candidates of science were trained under his leadership.

Robert Baimov is one of the authors and members of the Scientific Editorial Board of the Bashkir Encyclopedia and the six-volume History of Bashkir Literature, the author of textbooks, teaching aids for schools and universities. Under his leadership, the publications “Bashkir Literature of the 20th Century” (2003), “Great Faces and Literary Monuments of the East” (2006) were created.

Baimov - the author of the stories “The Late Melody”, “Let's Return Soldiers”, as well as the book of stories “Thirst” (1980), “The Hidden Treasure” (1982), the novels “Expense” (1989), “The Caravan Goes from Baghdad”, the novel “ The Falcon's Flight ”(“ Sybar Shonkar ”) about the Bashkir national movement of the early 20th century. In 1997, this novel was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Bashkortostan. S. Yulaeva. In Russian, the novel saw the light called "Krechet rebellious."

Robert Baimov was the chief editor of the print edition of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan - the scientific journal Yadkar, nowadays Problems of Oriental Studies. In the last years of his life, R.N. Baimov investigated the origins of Turkic-Arabic-Farsi literatures. The result of this activity was the publication of the monograph “The Great Faces and Literary Monuments of the East”, which was recommended by the Ministry of Education of Bashkortostan as a textbook for universities, and the newspaper “Bashkortostan” was declared the “Book of the Year”.

Awards and titles

For fruitful creative and scientific-pedagogical activity, training of personnel, Robert Baimov was awarded the sign "Excellence in Higher Education of the USSR", was awarded the titles "Honored Worker of Science of the Bashkir ASSR" and "Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation".
