Biography
Ivan Gudimov was born on August 9, 1920 in the village of Verkhny Byk (now the Vorobyov district of the Voronezh region ).
He graduated from seven classes of school. He worked as a chauffeur on a collective farm , and since 1938, as a mechanic and a hammermaker at the construction of the South Ural Nickel Plant in the city of Orsk, Orenburg Region . In 1939 he graduated from the Orsk flying club .
In 1940, Gudimov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation Pilot School, after which he served in combat units of the air forces . Since March 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was a pilot, senior pilot, flight commander, deputy commander, commander of the air squadron of the 448th assault aviation regiment. He took part in the battles on the Volkhov and Leningrad fronts. He flew on the Il-2 attack aircraft [1] .
By February 1945, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Gudimov was the deputy commander and at the same time navigator of the air squadron of the 448th assault aviation regiment of the 281st assault aviation division of the 13th air army of the Leningrad Front . By the time of his submission to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Gudimov made more than 115 sorties [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 23, 1945 for “courage and heroism shown in battles,” Senior Lieutenant Ivan Gudimov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 5942 [1] .
After the war, Gudimov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1951, he graduated from the Krasnodar Higher Officer School of Navigators of the Air Force, in 1957 - courses for the improvement of officers. In 1961, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, Gudimov was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region . He died on January 24, 1995, was buried in the cemetery of the village of Ostrovtsy, Ramensky district, Moscow region [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Suvorov of the 3rd degree, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star , as well as a number of medals [1] .
