The Phoenix is the brig of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Empire . One of the three brigs of the same type [1] .

Service History

The Phoenix brig was laid down on October 6, 1809 at the Kronstadt shipyard. The construction was carried out by shipbuilder A.V. Zenkov. Launching took place on July 12, 1811.

Patriotic War of 1812

In June and July 1812, the brig cruised in the Gulf of Riga and the Baltic Sea , carried out intelligence operations off the coast of Riga and Danzig . In August, he protected the approaches to the Gulf of Riga, cruised between Vindava and Libava . On August 19, a brig consisting of a detachment of captain of the 2nd rank I.S. Tulubiev came to the Danzig raid .

Until September 4, the ship blocked the marine approach to the fortress, and on September 8 came to Sveaborg . At this time, Mikhail Petrovich Lazarev served on the brig with the rank of lieutenant.

War with France 1813-1814

In 1813 and 1814, the ship cruised in the Baltic Sea, went to Stockholm , Copenhagen , Karlskron .

Further Service

Since 1815, the brig became part of the training courts of the Naval Cadet Corps (IWC). From 1815 to 1819, the brig went on practical voyages to the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland .

From May to September 1817, the Phoenix sailed with the best pupils of the IWC assigned to the brig at the behest of the Sovereign, including the three-hockey team [2] P. Stanitsky, P. Nakhimov , Z. Dudinsky, N. Fofanov; dvukampantsy P. Novosilsky , S. Likhonin, V. Dal , D. Zavalishin , I. Adamovich, A.P. Rykachev, F. Kolychev and odnokampanets I. Butenev . The ship went to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Karlskrona.

In 1825, the brig was dismantled in Kronstadt.
