Lullaby of the Chugoku Region

The lullaby of the Chugoku region ( Jap. 中国 地方 子 子 歌 歌 Chu: goku-quiet: but comoriuta ) is a Japanese folk lullaby . In it, the singing person persuades the child to fall asleep and promises that the next day the family will take the child to a Shinto shrine and perform the “ miya-mairi ” ritual there: he will ask the spirits for health and happiness for his newborn, since the due number of days expires from the birthday of the baby ritual.

Historically, the "Lullaby of the Chugoku Region" was distributed around the city of Ibara and the Yakage village of Okayama Prefecture , as well as on Inland Sea of ​​Japan , although the words and melody were different in different places ^[1] . In 1928 ^[2], composer Kosaku Yamada made the arrangement of the melody a lullaby ^[3] . Yamada learned about the song from singer Taichi Ueno ( 上 野 耐 之 , 1901-2001), a native of Ibara. Ueno once told Yamada about the lullaby his mother sang to him, and Yamada really liked her ^[4] . In composer processing, the lullaby became known throughout the country. Later, a memorial stone was erected in Ibar with words and notes of a lullaby near , as well as several other memorial signs dedicated to this song. The melody of the "Lullaby of the Chugoku region" is used in watches on the building of the city municipality of Ibara ^[5] .

The Russian animation project " Lullabies of the World ", which creates cartoons for lullabies of different peoples, used this song performed by Mitiya Mihashi as a Japanese lullaby. The cartoon footage is loosely connected with the words of the song and tells the legend of the Shepherd and Weaver, which lies at the heart of the traditional Japanese festival of Tanabata .
