Biography
Ivan Gika was born in 1756 [1] . Educated in a Greek gymnasium, where he entered January 1, 1776. After 5 years, on January 1, 1781, he was released as second lieutenant to the Kozlovsky musketeer regiment and on November 24 of the same year he received the rank of lieutenant. January 1, 1786 promoted to captain. January 22, 1788 was transferred during the production in second-majors to the Yekaterinoslav grenadier regiment .
Member of the Russo-Turkish War (1787-1791) ; during the assault, Ochakova was shell-shocked in the chest. Prime Minister - since 1791, captain-lieutenant of the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment - since 1792; captain - since 1795, colonel - since 1796, major general - since 1798 [2] , lieutenant general - since January 5, 1800.
On April 16, 1800 he was appointed Smolensk commandant and chief of the Smolensk garrison; and in June - the Smolensk military governor.
He was also an inspector for infantry of the Smolensk Inspectorate. On June 23, 1802 he was “ordered to be in the army”, and on December 20 of the same year he was dismissed from service due to contusion, with a uniform and half-salary pension.
