Ephydroidea (lat.) - the superfamily of round-flax flies from the suborder Short-banded ( Brachycera ) dipterans . More than 5,000 species, including fruit flies ( Drosophilidae ) and beach flies . In the fossil state, several Drosophilid taxa are known, as well as the Eocene genus Pareuthychaeta ( Diastatidae ) [1] and the Miocene genus Depressonotum ( Curtonotidae ) [2] . Vein A1 of the fore wing short, and vein A2 absent. The 8th sternite of the male abdomen is reduced or absent [3] .

Shore flies ( Ephydridae ), 1800 species [2]

Fruit flies ( Drosophilidae ), 3400 species [2]

Camillidae (wing venation), 40 species

Phylogenetic relationships
Ephydroidea is being considered a sister group to Sphaeroceroidea . The position of the families Mormotomyiidae and Nannodastiidae remains unclear, sometimes they are brought closer to Sphaeroceroidea . The diagram of the phylogenetic relationships of families within Ephydroidea, according to various authors, is shown below in the diagram: [3] [4]
