Khilkov, Vasily Ivanovich

Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov ( 1614 , Moscow - April 1, 1677 , ibid.) - boyar and governor of the Khilkov family. The son of Prince Ivan Vasilievich .

Biography

Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov began his service as a steward at the court of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich . In September 1643 he traveled "with a table from the sovereign" to the Turkish ambassador. January 28, 1644 was sent to invite on behalf of the king of the Danish prince Waldemar , who arrived in Moscow with the embassy. In January and February 1645, Prince V.I. Khilkov met the Danish and Polish embassies.

In 1646 - 1648 he was in the voivodship in Rylsk and Tula . In January 1648 he was called to Moscow and attended the wedding of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich with Maria Ilyinichnaya Miloslavskaya , where he "played the second."

In 1652 - 1657, Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov was in the Voivodship in Tobolsk . During his Voivodship in Tobolsk V. I. Khilkov contributed much to the subjugation of Russia to the Ostyaks , Kalmyks and other foreigners; stood up for all those offended, patronized the exiled (in his house he found shelter and Archpriest Habakkuk ) and persecuted the other governor for their "inhuman reprisals" against foreigners.

On May 21, 1659, by royal decree, Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov was sent to Vladimir to meet the Georgian Tsar Teimuraz Davydovich who arrived in Russia and was appointed the first "bailiff" under him. In December of the same 1659 he was appointed regimental commander in Sevsk , then examined the Odoevsky Zaseki. After returning to Moscow and until the end of his life, Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov held exclusively court posts.

Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov was distinguished by selflessness, truthfulness and compassion. During his stay in the Voivodship in Tobolsk , V.I. Khilkov provided patronage to the exiled and in need of protection. In his house, the famous Protopop Avvakum found shelter. Interceiving for the offended Ostyaks, he wrote to the Berezovsky governor Davydov: “ You didn’t make a decree according to the sovereign that Berezovsky hung out the best Ostyaks without guilt, for your idle greed, striving for thieves, Berezovsky yasak collectors ... ”

Family

Prince Vasily Ivanovich Khilkov was married to Irina Grigoryevna Volkonskaya (d. 24.06.1673), from whom she had a son, Jacob (d. 1681). Among the grandchildren are associates of Peter I , brothers Yuri and Andrei Yakovlevich .
