William Gann ( Eng. William Delbert Gann ; June 6, 1878 , , Texas - June 18, 1955 , New York ) is an American trader who developed a technical analysis tool known as Gann angles and other analysis patterns (square 9, lap 24, graph 360). He was also a Freemason of the 32nd degree of the Scottish Statute - his knowledge of ancient mathematics is associated with this fact, although he was also known as a connoisseur of ancient Greek and Egyptian cultures [6] .
He was married three times, from his first two marriages three daughters and a son were born.
The Gann Method
Gann developed a technical analysis method based on traditional graphic formations. The main components of Gann analysis are:
- cardinal square - a method that allows you to predict future significant points on the chart based on the lowest currency price of all time;
- coordination of price and time ( squaring of price and time ) - a method of converting the dollar price of a product into units of time and adding these periods to the day when an important price was received. Upon achievement of temporary goals, time and prices are agreed upon, and the market will most likely have to turn back [7] ;
- geometric angles - their use in the securities market is described in The Basis of My Forecasting Method (1935), which states that each geometric angle divides time and price into proportional parts [8] and there are geometric constructions by which you can predict the projection of prices for the future. The main is called 1 × 1, moreover, if we draw a perfect square, and then draw a diagonal line from one corner of the square to another, we get an illustrated concept of a 1 × 1 angle that moves up one point a day [9] .
