Biography
Nikolai Grukhin was born on March 11, 1902 in the village of Grukhintsy (now Kirovo-Chepetsky District, Kirov Region ) into a peasant family. Left without a mother, raised by his grandmother. He graduated from primary school. In 1917 - 1919 he lived with his father in Zlatoust . In 1919, Grukhin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In March 1922 he graduated from the political labor of the Caucasian Labor Army, in May 1923 - military-political courses in Novocherkassk , in August 1928 - one-year courses of political officers at the Kiev United Military School. He served in various political positions. In October 1931 he graduated from the courses "Shot" , after which he served as commander of a machine-gun company, assistant battalion commander. From March 1935, Grukhin was the assistant commander of the 218th rifle regiment, and from May 1939, commander of the 127th rifle regiment. Distinguished himself during the fighting on the Khalkhin-Gol [1] .
On August 26, 1939, the Grukhin regiment advanced in the direction of the height of Nomon-Khan-Burd-Obo and by the end of the day penetrated 12 kilometers into enemy defenses. Having gone to the Haylastyn-Gol river, by the evening of August 27, he crossed it. On August 28, Grukhin died in battle [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1939, Major Nikolai Grukhin was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for "skillful and courageous command of the regiment and personal heroism shown in the Khalkhingol offensive operation." He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
